Ladybird Painted Rocks

painted rock ladybird

This is a fab easy make which is great to do in the garden on a sunny day, I remember painting rocks with my Grandma in her green house in the summer holidays and ending up with a bedroom full on painted rocks, great memories šŸ™‚

Stone painted ladybirds

To make the ladybird rock we used:

  • A large rock we found on a walk
  • Paint (just ordinary paint)
  • Glue
  • Wiggle eyes

I set my toddler up outside in the sun with everything he needed on a tray and he painted the body red. I then helped him paint the face and we took it in turns to paint on the spots.

Once we had made our ladybird rock we then did some ladybird chalk drawings and looked for ladybirds in the garden.

  1. So ladybugs are called “ladybirds” in Europe? I’m in America, and I was confused until I saw “mummy.”

  2. Continuation of my previous comment: Also, I really love this idea. It’s funny that you should mention memories of painting rocks at your grandmother’s! I stumbled across this post while looking for simple ideas for painting rocks, which I will be doing WITH MY GRANDMOTHER (!!) this weekend. How weird is that?! Thanks for posting this. I’m definitely gonna do it! šŸ˜€
